Part 6 - Business Cards And Flyers

Business cards and flyers/pamphlets are essential tools for promoting your market stall and overall brand . This ensures potential customers remember you, even if they don’t end up buying from you on the day of your market event. When it comes to business cards, consider using high-quality materials and a design that reflects the unique character of your brand. Opt for a sturdy cardstock with a professional finish, as this will convey a sense of professionalism.

Ensure that your contact information, including phone number, email address, and social media handles are clearly displayed on the business card. You may also want to include a brief description of your products or services to give recipients an idea of what you offer. We call this an elevator pitch - what would you say to someone in a lift that sums up what you do as a business in one line, and before you get out at the next stop? If you are handing out your business cards in public areas, rather than to potential customers at the market, then you may want to leave off your telephone number.

In addition to business cards, flyers or pamphlets can be an effective way to attract attention and generate interest in your market stall either before hand or on the day. Design eye-catching flyers that capture the essence of what makes your stall special. You have more room on these to sell your products and showcase your best sellers. You may even want to include a couple of action photos of how you make your products and why they are unique.

Utilise professional looking images of your products and persuasive text to convey key selling points. It's crucial to include all relevant information on the flyer, similar to your business card, ensure all your contact details are printed with your social media handles and website details. Once again, you may want to exclude a telephone number. You may want to take a photo of your market stall when it is all setup with your display stands, products and branding, and then add this to your flyer for future events. This way people will be able to visually remember you, and what your stall looked like when they were last there. If you do end up leaving flyers with other business, you will be easier to recognise on the day of your market when new customers come looking for you.

When distributing business cards and flyers, proactively engage with people passing by, but remember not to be pushy. Offer them these promotional materials while explaining what sets your market stall apart from others.

Encourage them to take a card or flyer even if they don't make an immediate purchase, since having your business card or flyer will serve as a reminder when they are ready to buy at a later date from your online store. Remember that presentation matters, be approachable, friendly, and maintain eye contact throughout the interaction with people.

This will leave a positive impression on potential customers and increase the chances of them remembering you when making purchasing decisions later. Consider partnering with other local businesses or establishments related to your niche in order to display some of your business cards or leave stacks of flyers at their premises for interested individuals who may visit these locations, but miss out on visiting the market directly.

Don't forget to track the effectiveness of your business cards and flyers by including unique QR codes or promotional codes on them. This will allow you to measure the success of your marketing efforts and identify which methods are most impactful for attracting customers to your market stall.
