Entrance Console Table with Exposed Edges

We have been working on a new modern mid-century furniture style for the hallway, which will soon join our Timeless Collection. As always, we ensure that practicality is just as important as the design itself. You can see below the pieces have been cut in order to expose the plywood edges and glued together using a number of clamps. We don’t just use glue to bond the layers, we fix each layer to the next with 18-gauge steel wire and as you can see in the third picture, we use wooden dowels for additional reinforcement.

There is still whole load of work to do on this table before it is complete. We spend at least 6 to 8 hours sanding all the surfaces to ensure they are smooth. We then move onto the finish, which depending on the client’s preference and item of plywood furniture, it is finished with a durable hard wax or high-end furniture lacquer.

Wondering what the end piece is used for in the third picture? As this is likely to be placed near an entrance in the hallway, we thought it would be nice to include an organiser which can hold letters, magazines or newspapers.
